Presentations

my creative process and all of its pitfalls
as well as its epiphanies. Slides, props, and original materials are used to tell my tale of being a book author and illustrator.
My husband, Matthew Smith, is a composer and has composed music to the author’s readings of many of my books, including my own Winter is the Warmest Season. I usually end my presentations with a slide show that
is narrated by the author and accompanied by Matthew’s fabulous music. It often has the audience rising to their feet and dancing!
My presentations are adaptable to students in grades Pre-K through 12, teachers, librarians, and adults of all ages. They can be presented as a one- or two-hour keynote or expanded to a multiple day hands-on workshop that includes writing, storyboarding, and creating a small book.
For a examples of my presentations or how my books may be used in the classroom, please visit my blog and click on “school/library visits” category on the right.
