The Shape of the World Window!
The Red Balloon Bookshop has a marvelous window that is 10 feet tall by 28 inches wide. I was invited to paint the window with images from The Shape of the World. Arriving early on a Sunday morning, I work from atop of a ladder, placed on top of a table in order to reach the top of the window. Before I begin painting, I hang the drawing I made in my studio the day before, so I can follow the lines and paint with color, the details from the illustrations. It takes me from 9am to 4:30pm to finish the painting and the final effect is very like stained glass; perfect for Frank LLoyd Wright!
